Madivaru and Madivaru Finolhu

Madivaru and Madivaru Finolhu

Madivaru and Madivaru Finolhu islands are located not far from Rasdhoo . The locals call them picnic islands. These islands are uninhabited; you can get there by speed boat or by kayak. There is a lagoon near Madivaru Finolhu, which is 2.5-3.0 meters deep. There is a magnificent coral at the heart of the lagoon, where you can find lots of beautiful fish! When I was on holiday in Maldives, I also spent some time in that beautiful place.

For the second time I was there before going home. At that time my skin began to peel off, and some (very hungry) fish started eating it! I should say it was an unusual feeling; they were tickling me. Nevertheless, it is a great way to attract fish, and touch them.

It is Madivaru where tourists are taken. Then they can reach the neighboring island on foot or by water.

A sandbank near the islands

There are three sandbanks near the islands, where seagulls and other seabirds often fly. One of the sandbanks is located near Madivaru; you can get there on foot. The other two are over the lagoon near Madivaru Finolhu. The first one is about 1 km away from the Madivaru Finolhu, the other one is 500 meters away from the island. There is a very beautiful reef with lots of little fish near the second sandbank.

I learned about these sandbanks only after I had left the islands. Moreover, when I told my manager, where I came on foot, he was absolutely shocked! I can understand him: why should one go so far for nothing? I was just curious, but I paid for my curiosity. Besides that I was without a shirt, I applied not so much sunscreen on my skin. As a result, I got burned.

Therefore, if you decide to go on a walking tour, you’d better….no,

you MUST wear a hat, a shirt, shoes, and apply as much sunscreen as possible (better water-resistant), and do not go alone – it can be dangerous! I was wearing shoes, and it saved my feet from the rocky bottom, but not from the other things.

Nevertheless, my journey was great…
